A Day Out at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach – Review |ad

family things to do in great yarmouth

Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach Review –  as part of our time in Great Yarmouth, we visited the Pleasure Beach. Think of your traditional fairground rides, a fab rollercoaster, a tame monorail that runs over half the park, numerous rides, hook a duck, haunted houses etc.  (Note, it was Mr Wonders who wrote ‘tame monorail’, there is no way you would get me on it!!)

As an aside if you are planning to visit Great Yarmouth – we have also reviewed Merrivale Model Village, the Hippodrome Circus and SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth

Wrist Band or Fun Cards?

Before going in you really need to figure out whether to buy wristbands that allow you unlimited rides after entry or “fun cards” that give you a number of credits. The all-day wristband is £25 for anyone over 7 years of age.  The Fun Cards are priced at £1 a ride credit and you can buy in 5’s or 10’s.

I would say if you plan on more than 4 or 5 then you may as well go with a wristband. If you just plan on a couple of rides and a hot dog, “fun cards” could be best for you.  You can see how many Ride Credits you need for each ride below:

Or maybe the less enthusiastic purchase a fun card and ride obsessed go with a wristband, I think that’s allowed!

Late Night Theme Nights in the Summer Holidays

Also check out their themed nights over the summer hols when they are open until 9pm or 9.30pm on a Wednesday where you will also see sea front fireworks!

I also found this handy ride height chart, which is good to know before you go I think:

We visited on a hot summers day in the school holidays (the photos make it look cloudy/cold – it really wasn’t!) and the queues were surprisingly short. The rollercoaster being the biggest ride had the longest, but didn’t seem too unpleasant. Most other rides were fairly swift to get on, 10 mins ish.

Speaking of food, there’s plenty on offer, the main food section is in one area. See menu below to make you hungry. I have just made myself hungry though.  I don’t think the prices are bad – but we do come from York and most of the country is cheap by comparison!

If you love your rides you could spend a good few hours in here. If you are staying overnight, choose your hotel wisely close by so you can pop back for a rest and return recharged later. The wristbands have an RF chip in that you scan yourself in and out of the park.

If you are a ride fan then the Pleasure Beach at Great Yarmouth is a must do during your stay!
