I went to see the musical, The Band at the Leeds Grand Theatre last night and it was quite simply one of the best if not the best musical I have ever seen (and if you read anything I write, you know I have been to lots of musicals!). I won’t give any spoilers, but it really hit the ground running.
Telling the story woven throughout with the songs of Take That, the story centres around a group of girls in the 90’s and then moves to 25 years later to see how their lives have changed. (Everything Changes, did you see what I did there?)
From the very first scene, I was in the zone and hooked!
I wasn’t the only one – I don’t think I have felt so much love and enjoyment pouring from the audience before. The singing and dancing in the seats really added to the atmosphere. The Band is funny and poignant and above all uplifting. I cried a lot but laughed even more. (Take tissues as it’s embarrassing wiping your nose on your sleeve!)
At the end the audience were instantly – and I mean instantly on their feet, dancing and clapping and showing their appreciation. If you get chance to go and see it, please do, it’ll be one you remember for years to come.
