I recently visited Crete again to review a couple of the fabulous Domes hotels. Just like the last time I flew to Crete, I flew from Leeds Bradford Airport. That makes twice in one year after at least 20 years of not flying from Leeds Bradford Airport. It’s honestly been a revelation. It’s so easy for me to get to and I get home so quickly after I land. It’s definitely going to be the first port of call for any future flights if at all possible.

We have put together a video review here:
Anyway, onto the reason for this post. Leeds Bradford Airport has recently undergone significant investment with their new terminal including two new airport lounges.

The Avro Lounge is family friendly and one I must try when I go back with the teenagers. On this occasion I was flying with my friend Lisa so we were very happy to try out the Six Eight One Lounge.

Our flight departed at 6:00am. So we arrived at the lounge at around 4:00. You can choose to use the lounge for either 2 or 3 hours before your flight. Prices start at around £34 for two hours.

It was quiet when we arrived, which is understandable at such an early hour of the morning but it meant we had almost the whole Lounge to ourselves. I snapped a shot of the breakfast menu:

We got settled into two lovely comfortable chairs and then I fetched juice and coffee from the buffet while Lisa ordered a traditional ‘time-means-nothing-in-an-airport beer’.

There is a fully stocked bar within the Six Eight One Lounge, with a QR code on your table where you can order drinks to be served to you. In addition to the juice and coffee on the buffet, there is also a whole selection of breakfast items.

From a traditional full English with bacon, eggs, sausage, beans, hash browns, etc

You will also find cereal:

And an assortment of pastries:

There are lots of screens advising you of what time your flight will be boarding etc, plus the lady on reception was very friendly and helpful with times and instructions.

I have to say that I did feel very smug walking past all the tired people in the main airport area, then waltzing into our private airport lounge. If you are planning to pay for food and a drink anyway in the airport then this is definitely something to consider to get your holiday off to a fabulous start!
You also get private toilets in the lounge (thought I’d mention!).
Finally, if you are interested in what beers (and wines) are on tap:
