If you are looking for an outdoor active fun park then Piglets, near York really fits the bill. It’s even better when they have a themed event running. We visited over half term when they had their May May-hem week. Piglets is really good especially for younger children. They have had a bit of a reshuffle this year and introduced two new climbing frame houses.

The houses have a cute fairy tale look to them and seemed very popular.

There are two huge bouncy pillows. One for toddlers and one for more boisterous older ones as well as a crazy golf and an obstacle course.

Another favourite with my two are the ride on tractors, although at nearly nine Master T is getting a bit big for them. At various times during the day a tractor appears and pulls a series of barrels around the field. The children love this bumpy ride.

In the summer there is a large maize maze in the adjoining field. I fell over in it once, a few years ago and the children never fail to mention my humiliation whenever we visit! Piglets also have lots of lovely animals to visit and pet. We didn’t look at the animals this time, so I shall save that for a future post.

This week there was a circus big top and we watched Fatt Matt. I have never been a circus fan and was not really expecting much, just something to keep the children entertained. I was wrong – it was amazing! Matt had the children completely enthralled and amused right from the beginning. He began by acting the clown and had all the children laughing. As the show went on, he performed some seriously impressive acrobatics. There really felt an element of danger at times, that added to the tension and atmosphere of the show. I won’t give too much away, but I believe that Matt is back at Piglets over the summer, so go and see him! It really made the day good value for money. The show lasted over half an hour and I would have happily paid for the show alone.

Piglets have great themed events and always do them really well. From Easter, through to Hallowe’en and then Christmas. They have a fabulous café outside the farm park and a kiosk selling good quality hot food inside. It’s also a great venue for a summer children’s party.
Piglets have a two tier price scheme, one price for weekend, School and Bank holidays and one for Monday to Friday in term time.
Child: £7.95/£4.95, Adult: £6.95/£3.75, Concessions: £4.95/£2.95. They also run an annual membership scheme.
I love this place so much. We got some brilliant pictures of Oscar on the giant cushions when we visited last year. Had the place pretty much to ourselves too.
