Hotel Victoria in Robin Hood’s Bay is a beautiful hotel with the most amazing views over the bay. I have spent many an hour here relaxing with a pot of tea while Mr Wonders took the kids down to the beach to hunt for fossils (I know who got the better end of the deal!).

The hotel came under new ownership at the end of 2023 and has been beautifully refurbished since. It’s got a LOT going for it with a large restaurant, huge heated garden terrace, comfortable bar for coffee and cake and The Loxley, its very own pub!

Captain’s Quarters – Two Bedroom Suite Review
We stayed in the two bedroom superior suite on the very top floor of the Captain’s Quarters. Our children are teenagers now but still like to be close. This room is absolutely perfect for younger children as you can relax in your own room, knowing that they are safe next door and in your own private suite.
The Captain’s Quarters are in a separate building but is right next door to the main part of the hotel.

There are two very spacious bedrooms. The below photo is of the room with the king size bed. You can see how pretty the room is with its Victorian fireplace.

The second room is equally large with twin beds.

There is also a lovely big bathroom.

The bathroom comes with a big shower as well as a huge freestanding bath. The toiletries are by Elemis and smell gorgeous as you would imagine.

On the wall in each room there is a smart TV with lots of streaming apps that you can log into. Just try and remember to log out before you leave (although it is quite convenient for everybody else if you don’t!). There are also USB points in the rooms to charge your phone and devices.

We stayed in the room with the king size bed which had a view of the top of the village and the North York Moors in the distance. In the other bedroom there is a smaller window with a view of the sea through the rooftops.

The hospitality tray is very well stocked with a Nespresso machine, Taylor’s coffee bags, tea and instant coffee, as well as Walker’s biscuits.

In addition to these, there were two Harrogate spring water bottles, a small bottle of Whitby Gin and a large bottle of Yorkshire tonic water (very nice!!)

In the twin room, you will find a dressing table with large mirror and a Dyson hair dryer.

The Loxley Pub

We spent a nice relaxed hour before dinner in The Loxley.

It’s spacious with lots of comfortable seating in front of the open fire.

They offer Sunday Lunch as well as a small plates menu in here. It’s dog friendly, as are some of the rooms in the hotel itself.

Osborne’s Restaurant
The main restaurant in the hotel is the popular Osborne’s Restaurant. This room makes the most of the views over the bay.

We ate both dinner and breakfast in here. To give you an idea of the menus during our stay:

We ordered the Smoked Salmon Fishcake from the specials menu:

As well as the pigs in blankets!

This was followed by the grain fed chicken schnitzel.

Whilst I plumped for the steak and mushroom pie. All the dishes were lovely, and I’d recommend the chips rather than fries (but I always prefer chunky chips to fries!).

We were full by the time pudding came around but managed to force down the sticky toffee pudding with two spoons!

Breakfast in Osborne’s Restaurant
Breakfast was served in Osborne’s Restaurant between 8 and 10am. There is a continental buffet with pastries, toast, cereal, fruit and juices.

We were also served tea or coffee at the table and given the menu for a hot cooked breakfast:

Mr Wonders chose the full English (minus mushrooms):

While I went for bacon, sausage and egg (more room for pastries afterwards!):

Osborne’s Lounge Bar
This is a perfect spot to sit in the afternoon with a pot of tea and a slice of cake!

Car Parking
The hotel has its own car park around the back with the most amazing view a car park has ever seen. It’s not huge so it is first come, first served.

There is a pay and display car park immediately opposite, that does get very busy. They do have four EV spaces though if you need to charge. A few minutes up the hill there is another much larger car park too.
