Buyagift for Mother’s Day – Aldwark Manor Spa Review

Buyagift for Mother’s Day, Aldwark Manor Spa Review – As you might gather, I love a spa day, so was delighted when Buyagift invited us to review one of their spa day vouchers in time for Mother’s Day.

You get a choice of spas to visit all over the country. We chose Aldwark Manor near York as it’s not too far from us. As well as the use of the spa facilities, the voucher included a two course lunch or afternoon tea (depending on the individual venue) and a 50 minute treatment.

We arrived in time for lunch and were given a list of three wraps to choose from (chicken, mozzarella and pesto and prawn (I think!)). We were shown to a dining area off the main restaurant and given water on the table. Our wrap was brought quickly and was unusually served as a bento box. I think the sandwiches are made earlier in the day then the whole bento box refrigerated. I have to say I prefer freshly made sandwiches as the wrap was very cold and I just think that fresh is best.

After lunch we changed into our swimsuits (you are welcome to visit the restaurant in robes, but we hadn’t changed at that point). In the ladies, there is a communal changing area, three private cubicles, two loos and three showers. The showers don’t have any products in them, so make sure to bring your own shampoo etc. The lockers are free and have a pin lock on them, so you can choose your own combination.

The spa itself comprises of a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam and tropical shower. I think the spa would benefit from investment as it’s looking a little worn around the edges.

There is a relaxation room upstairs, that is comfortable and cosy with plenty of beds.

After our session in the spa, we were called for our treatments. You can choose from a list of 50 minute treatments or from a list of 25 minute treatments (and choose two). I chose an express facial and a head, neck and shoulders massage. My therapist Caroline, was lovely and the treatment was absolutely divine. She was very skilled and it was so relaxing! It really made up for the earlier niggles, and I was so much happier after the treatment.

I think if it’s the right price then Aldwark Manor is a good choice, but it’s definitely more on the budget end of spas.
