Last weekend I met up with a good friend for a lovely weekend in London. We stayed in a gorgeous suite in Threadneedles, an elegant five star hotel in the City of London, just a few minutes walk from the Bank of England as well as (perhaps unsurprisingly) Bank tube station! I’ve put a video together of our afternoon tea and some shots of the lovely hotel:

In the afternoon we tried the Threadneedles fabulous afternoon tea, then later indulged in their signature gold cocktails before heading out to see Oliver the Musical. We had a wonderful time! You can see my full review of The Terrace Suite we stayed in as well as a review of the rest of the hotel here.

My friend and I had not seen each other for a long time so this was a wonderful celebration. We began our afternoon tea with a good chat over a glass of prosecco before moving on to the afternoon tea itself.

After our prosecco, hot drinks were also served in a lovely pot of tea. This was refilled when we needed it to be.
Afternoon Tea at Threadneedles
The main foyer area is centred underneath the dome and this is where we tried the Threadneedles afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea was delicious and generous as you might expect, with an array of sandwiches such as smoked salmon and cream cheese, egg mayonnaise, a ploughmans and a chicken club sandwich.

We had more than enough sandwiches but were also offered more if we would like them.

Then came the traditional scone layer, two plain scones and two fruit scones with jam and clotted cream.

Finally, there was a patisserie layer with lots of delicate cakes such as miniature chocolate eclairs, lemon meringue tarts and delicate chocolate cakes.

We didn’t manage to finish everything, but were very kindly brought a box to take anything home that we wanted (I never like to waste food!).
Afternoon tea at Threadneedles was a lovely, relaxed and elegant occasion and a perfect accompaniment to our stay in the hotel.
