We recently returned from a fabulous stay at the Rixos Marina in Abu Dhabi. We have reviewed the hotel itself here.
The room we stayed in was number 918, a Premium Room with a balcony on the 9th floor. It was located to the side of the front of the hotel and had some amazing nighttime views (see the above photo!), but for the best daytime views, I would recommend the back of the hotel overlooking the pools and looking out to sea. I would also say (unless you are not keen on heights!) go as high as possible for the sheer exhilaration of it!
As I was staying with my teenage son, we had a twin room. What’s nice is that each twin bed is a double, so it feels very generous and the beds are very comfortable.
There is a huge flat-screen TV in the room, though to be honest we didn’t really watch it, but it’s nice to have.
There is also plenty of storage for clothes with two large wardrobes (one of which includes an ironing board and a mini safe).
You will also find tea and coffee making facilities and a mini fridge (payable if you are on full board but included, I believe on all inclusive).
The bathroom is huge, and accessed through a folding glass screen (it is opaque though!). There is a large shower, a loo and bidet (with its own door), two sinks and an enormous freestanding bath.
There are lots of toiletries for you, and such high quality that there is no need to bring your own shampoo and conditioner etc. I hadn’t tried Smith & Co, New Zealand before but it left my hair so soft and smelled great!
A couple of little details you might like to know – there is a drawer in the desk that actually flaps down and has two USB sockets, which we made great use of for charging our phones!
There is also a little panel that controls the lighting (so easy!), and a button you can press to say ‘no room servicing’ which is ideal when you have a teenager who sleeps half the day away (though perhaps I should have let them wake him up!).
Oh, also on the balcony door there is a child lock, nice and high up. Not sure what it says about me, but I couldn’t manage to unlock it either, but basically you push the button in at the same time as pulling the wire out, and voilà, access to your spacious balcony!
There is some seriously powerful air con as well, naturally! Room service will come and make your beds and bring fresh towels. If only I had room service at home!
Last year we visited Dubai and stayed at Rixos the Palm. You can see our review of the hotel and our review of the Junior Suite here. We have also reviewed Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.
We visited Rixos Marina, Abu Dhabi as part of a press trip, but as always, all opinions expressed are our own.
