6 Perfect Child Friendly Family Holidays Yorkshire 2020

6 Perfect Child Friendly Family Holidays Yorkshire 2020 – As you can probably tell, we live in Yorkshire and love it!  We often holiday in Yorkshire, there are so many places to visit and so much to do!  We have the Yorkshire Dales, The North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds, as well as some fabulous cities and mile upon miles of glorious coastline.  There really are so many different types of holiday accommodation from family hotels, camping or glamping to holiday parks and canal boating!  I wanted to put a few reviews of our favourite places together to give you some holiday inspiration!

The White Swan in Pickering

We stayed at The White Swan in Pickering in early summer.  They have adjoining family rooms and easy parking.  Pickering is in a great location as it’s close to the North York Moors where you can visit the NYMR and ride on the Hogwarts Express, or take a treetop adventure at Go Ape in Dalby Forest.  Take a drive over the Moors to Whitby, home of Dracula and the Whitby Abbey.

Crown Spa Hotel in Scarborough

Here is another fab hotel we tried out recently.  It’s high above Scarborough with the most amazing views of the sea.  The staff were friendly, the room was large with an adjoining twin room for the kids and the restaurant was fabulous.  There is lots to do in Scarborough of course from the beach, to the amusements or you could try the indoor and outdoor waterpark at Alpamare.

Tree Lodge Glamping at Swinton Bivouac

There are lots of fun and quirky glamping places in Yorkshire and we have reviewed quite a few here.  How about this cool tree lodge at Swinton Bivouac?  It sleeps up to seven in cute bunkbeds that the kids will love.  Sit on the porch at sunset and watch the kids play in the woodland around you.  There is also the Druid’s Temple, a fabulous folly to explore.  The fabulous Forbidden Corner is a brillian day out nearby.

Try out Bear’s Place at Camp Katur Glamping

Another great place to try out Glamping is Camp Katur.  We have visited twice and tried out their Geodome and their lodge ‘Bear’s Place‘.  I’d recommend both!  While you are there, try out the high ropes course next door at the Camp Hill Estate.  We also tried a Segway Safari.

You can see our full review of Bear’s Place here.

Haven Primrose Valley Holiday Park at Filey

There are several Haven sites on the Yorkshire coast.  We recently visited the one at Primrose Valley.  They have lots of different standards of caravans to choose from for different budgets.  Primrose Valley has two swimming pool complexes that includes slides and an outdoor pool.  There are lots of activities including paddleboarding, segways, water walkerz and archery (and a lot more).  They have a fairground, huge amusements, lots of eating places and two large show bars for evening entertainment.  There is also a fabulous beach for rockpooling at Filey.

Hire a Canal boat and Sail the Leeds to Liverpool Canal

This summer for the first time we took our kids canal boating on the Leeds to Liverpool canal around the Skipton area.  Definitely one for older kids I think, but ours enjoyed the mooring up of the boat and fishing beside the canals.  There was also a lot of ducks and swans fed!
