Glamping at Bear’s Place, Camp Katur, North Yorkshire – Review

If you go down to the woods today….you’ll find the most amazing cabin ever! Bear’s Place at Camp Katur in North Yorkshire is everything you could want from a woodland hideaway.  We’ve been to Camp Katur before and stayed in their Geodome as well as their Hobbit Hide.  It’s a fabulous place in a beautiful location.

Bear’s Place is built from around 70% recycled materials and is the quirkiest of glamping lodges. There are two bedrooms; the main bedroom has a large four poster bed wrapped in fairy lights, fabulously quirky wallpaper and a shelving area for your things.

The cabin has a second bedroom with bunk beds.  It’s actually an old converted horse box within the cabin. The bunk bedroom is cleverly hidden too so the children had to search for it and were delighted with the child sized door!  It’s perfect for glamping with kids.

The Main Living Area

The main living area is large, light and airy with a big squishy leather corner sofa, lots of cushions and a faux fur throw to keep you cosy.  There are lots of fab things around the cabin to keep you amused like the glass chess set you can see in this photo.  There are also joke books for the kids, cards and charades.

The cabin has a dining table that was beautifully set for our arrival (you can see the wooden hot tub in the background!)

Bear’s Place has its own Kitchen and Dining Area

There is even a small kitchen area with a sink and a four ring hob (cup of tea and bacon sandwich in the morning!).

To keep you warm and snug there is a log burner with a big basket of logs. There is also a gas heater which is handy to put on while you are waiting for the log burner to warm up (as well as first thing on a morning).

The bathroom is very modern with a glass sink and your own shower. No walking down to the shower block at Bear’s Place!

Decor wise, it’s very quirky and cute. With some fabulous and thoughtful touches. There are candles and fairy lights everywhere that give a really magical feel in the evening. The main lights are solar and are surprisingly bright when you do need them.

All of the different types of accommodation at Camp Katur are set around a huge square field all looking into the middle. There is a good amount of space between each that gives a lovely sense of privacy. You can really feel at one with nature and are surrounded by birdsong.

Bear’s Place comes with its own fire pit barbecue for evenings spent around the fire.  We barbecued both nights that we were there and I’d be keen to buy a firepit bbq like this for home!

There is also a comfy rattan sofa set, an ideal spot for morning coffee.  The wooden balcony is festooned with fairy lights that come on automatically at dusk.

Camp Katur, Yorkshire Glamping with a Hot Tub

Another decadence that Bear’s Place boasts is its own private wood fired hot tub! An absolutely perfect spot to sit with a glass of wine and watch your other half slaving over the barbecue! It does take a few hours to warm up initially so make it one of the first things to do when you arrive.

We love it at Camp Katur, the glamping pods are done so tastefully and so well and you have everything you need.  They have lots of different styles of glamping accommodation for different sized groups, and are very reasonably priced I think.  Have a look on their website here.

If you are looking for things to do in the area, The Camp Hill Estate is just next door and has a fabulous adventure playground, as well as experiences like quad bikes, a high ropes course and segways – we did the segway experience and you can read our full review here.

Camp Katur invited us to stay and review, but as always, all opinions expressed are my own.

  1. Now this is posh glamping. I love the theme. It looks stunning and so cute. I am very impressed there’s a hot tub and warming it up yourself sounds great fun. What a lovely place to stay.
