We jumped at the chance as we can recall so many times it would have come in really handy. We have been on a great number of camping/glamping trips where no power is available. Think about two teenagers with their phones on 5% in a tent together! That’s even before trying to separate Mrs Wonders from her tech 🙂

So, what does this big thingy do and what’s it like to use? It’s a decent weight, so you probably wouldn’t want to take it too far from the car, but it has a handy carry handle for short journeys.

It can be charged up through the included mains adaptor and through the cigarette lighter charger also provided.  Also in the box is another adaptor wire which can connect to solar panels, though I don’t have any of these to test out.  There is an informative LCD display on the front showing current charge level and input/output use.

It has a plethora of sockets to plug things in.  2x240v (1000w) 3 pin mains plugs, a 12V cigarette lighter and twin 12V-10A jack plug types.  It also has 2 USB-A sockets and 2 PD-3.0, these are USB-C geared for quick charging devices that support it.  Rather handily, it has a wireless charging pad built into the top too, which suits my new phone perfectly.

As luck would have it (well, sort of), we then had a 10 hour powercut 2 days before Xmas!  In case you were wondering, yes you can power a WiFi router, Sky box and TV off this with a little creativity, admittedly not for the full 10 hours.  So yes, I could still watch Xmas tele!  Whilst also charging 4 phones and a tablet.

As a small amendment/addition to my original thoughts above, the recent huge hike in electricity unit costs has got me thinking about other uses for this and the potential to save a little money on our electric bill.  This might see it coupled with solar panels and found a home in our garden/outdoor kitchen area, to power fairy lights and a beer/wine chiller.  It would also save paying an electrician to wire up power permanently.
