12 Festive Christmas Events in Cheshire 2021

Christmas events in Cheshire – well, 2021 has been a funny old year so far, hasn’t it?  It’s a bit too early to outline the Christmas events coming up in Cheshire yet, but here is a look back on the last couple of years for ideas of what will likely be happening in 2021.  I shall try and update this page as the year goes on, but do check with the individual venue for the most up to date info.

Chester Christmas Market

Town Hall Square, Northgate Street, Chester, Cheshire, CH1 2HJ – 18th November 21- 22nd December 21

A magical Christmas all wrapped up! Chester Christmas Market will be back in the heart of Chester this year. Get the festive feeling this winter spoil yourself at Chester Christmas Market. A handmade, historical, magical experience awaits you with traditional wooden chalets surrounding the iconic sparkling tree in the heart of the city centre. Discover unique, locally made produce and with handmade crafts, jewellery, accessories and stocking fillers, you’re sure to find the perfect presents in Chester, we have your Christmas all wrapped up!

Chester Christmas Market is open seven days a week and is located in the city’s beautiful Town Hall Square opposite Chester Cathedral.

Chester Cathedral Christmas Tree Festival

November 27th – 4th January 2021

Our annual Christmas Tree Festival returns for its ninth fabulous year in 2021.

Join us for a delightful family event where, from the end of November, until the beginning of January, over 50 Christmas trees will sparkle and shimmer throughout the Cathedral.

Open daily, from Saturday 27 November to Tuesday 4 January 2022.  Open normal Cathedral opening hours.
If you are travelling especially to see the Christmas Tree Festival, please call us to ensure the event is fully open for the day of your visit.

Tatton Park – An enchanting Christmas Event in Cheshire

One Snowy Night – 27th November 2021 – 3rd January 2022

Tatton Park -Tatton Park’s winter gardens hosts a magical event for families this Christmas. Inspired by ‘One Snowy Night’ from renowned children’s author, Nick Butterworth, the gardens bring to life the tale of friendship and kindness.

Let the beautiful wintery scenes and tasty treat from Percy make you feel festive and full of cheer.   

Christmas Carols in the Stableyard – 19th December 2021 – 3-4pm

Meet up with friends and family in Tatton Park’s Stableyard for our much loved ‘Christmas Carols’. Sing-along to classics with the King Edward Musical Society Band and choir. The Gift Shop and Housekeeper’s Store will be open for last minute gifts and warming food and drink to takeaway will be available from the Stables Restaurant (Free event, £8 vehicle Parkland charges apply).

Anderton Boat Lift

Open from 9.30am Saturdays and Sundays throughout December.

Pack your weekends full of free, fun festive activities throughout December. Join us at Anderton Boat Lift on Saturdays and Sunday between 10.30 and 15.00 to help us find the elves, take part in crafts and write and post your letter to Santa.

Magical Woodland At Christmas – Blakemere Village

A Victorian Christmas at the Lion Salt Works

They’ll be celebrating Christmas in Victorian style at the Lion Salt Works with music, traditional crafts and games, and steam engines to admire. The Rivendell choir and bell-ringers will provide the musical accompaniment (14-15 December, events.westcheshiremuseums.co.uk/event/a-victorian-christmas-at-the-works).

 

Christmas Floral Extravaganza at Arley Hall

Arley Hall will be dressed for the season with hundreds of fresh flowers and foliage from its gardens, an exquisite sight, especially on its Candlelight & Carols Evenings, and there will be floral demonstrations, too (from 30 Nov, various dates, arleyhallandgardens.com/event/christmas-floral-extravaganza-2019).

 

Christmas at Capesthorne Hall

Capesthorne Hall will open its doors to reveal how Christmas is celebrated at a family-owned stately home. Musicians and school choirs will be on hand to entertain, plus craft stalls will be brimming with gift ideas (22-24 Nov, capesthorne.com/event/christmas-at-capesthorne). 

 

‘Dear Santa’ at Crewe Lyceum

Will Santa deliver a fantastic present to Sarah this Christmas and will he get the gift to her in time with the help of his cheeky sidekick, Elf? All will be revealed at the Crewe Lyceum (1-2 Dec, crewelyceum.co.uk).

 

Rode Hall Christmas Farmers’ Market

There’ll be mistletoe, mince pies and mulled wine, and the sounds of the Silver Band, at Rode Hall’s festive farmer’s market, with 70 artisan food and craft stalls filled with gift ideas and treats for the table

Christmas at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet

The switch will be flipped for the lights, Europe’s largest walk-in artificial Christmas tree will go on display, and singers, dancers and acrobats will perform Cirque, a show inspired by The Greatest Showman (6 Nov, cheshireoaksdesigneroutlet.com).

 

An Audience with Father Christmas at Lyme Park

Lyme’s chapel will become a veritable grotto, complete with twinkling fairylights, this Christmas. It’s just the place to hear seasonal stories, meet Santa, and get in the festive spirit (23 Nov-24 Dec, nationaltrust.org.uk/lyme).

 

Festive Family Fun Weekend at Bents Garden & Home

Face painting, fairground rides, and an appearance by Santa are just some of the special treats in store for visitors to Bents in the run up to Christmas (7-8 Dec, bents.co.uk).
