8 Magical Christmas Events in Manchester 2019 – Here are Yorkshire Wonders we are massive Christmas fans. We are often in Manchester over Christmas, so I thought I would put a list together of some of the fabulous Christmas events going on this year! There are Santa’s Grottos, Ice Skating, Magical Lanterns and Illuminated Christmas Trails. Something festive for everyone!
22 November – 30 December 2019
Christmas at Dunham Massey returns to the historic National Trust property in Cheshire on various dates from 22 November – 30 December 2019. As well as the illuminations there will be a Victorian carouse, helter skelter and other family rides (you will need to pay extra for these) and keep your eyes peeled for Father Christmas and his helpers along the way.
8th to the 22nd of December 2019
The Christmas Markets in Manchester have several different themes. Cathedral Gardens, Market Street, Exchange Square, New Cathedral Street and the Corn Exchange all have the traditional Christmas Market. Exchange Street has an Arts and Crafts Market, while you can find the French Christmas Market on King Street. A traditional German Market can be found in Manchester on St Ann’s Square, and Brazennose Street hosts the World Christmas Market.
6th December 2019 – 5th January 2020
Christmas 2019 is rapidly approaching and the team at Winter Funland is working hard together with Santa and the elves to get the North West England’s Largest Indoor Winter Wonderland ready in time… This year’s Christmas Winter Wonderland 2019 bonanza is taking place in EventCity, intu Trafford Centre, Greater Manchester.
Winterfunland tickets are all inclusive and include access to the following great attractions, all undercover at EventCity:

Here at the East Lancashire Railway, we’re always looking for ways to make our great events even greater, and our Santa Specials are no different! This year, our elves have been busy spreading even more sparkle, and have come up with some exciting new additions to your festive family day out. The giveaway plastic ‘carrier’ is replaced with a beautifully branded ELR re-usable drawstring bag. This Christmas, something magical is happening at Chester Zoo as our enchanting festive event, The Lanterns, returns for 2019. Join us as we transform the zoo into a spectacular wonderland, full of sparkle, illumination and a sprinkling of snow!
Set off on The Great Christmas Expedition to discover exotic illuminated wildlife and animal characters in nine different fantastical worlds; each one different to the last – from traditional festive scenes to colourful animal-inspired illuminations. This year the updated route will take you on a journey through new worlds that will have your imagination running wild.
You’ll be transported to the bottom of the sea in Underwater where you’ll need to dodge the jellyfish and fish before coming face to face with a HUGE octopus! Then make your way through Tropical Dreams which will be a dramatic centrepiece, complete with new beautiful lanterns. Then suspend belief as you take the Night Sky Adventure and travel through the clouds and stars, under the moonlight.

The Ice Village will return to Manchester’s Cathedral Gardens this Christmas, featuring attractions such as a new -10 degrees Ice Tiki Bar, a brand-new ice skating rink, an ice cavern and an unmissable Santa experience.
