Restaurants in York and great places to eat – York is an amazing place to live and visit and we have some wonderful restaurants in which to eat. There are so many different places to eat in York, it’s been hard compiling this list. But, I have based it on the local pubs and restaurants I love to visit and places that have been recommended as the best places to eat in York by my local friends.
We recently visited Pairings Wine Bar for a wine and food pairing experience. I’d heartily recommend it. It was a pleasure from start to finish, a really enjoyable lunch and experience.
Rustique has long been a York favourite, and was so popular that a second Rustique restaurant was opened on Lendal. “Rustique specialises in rustic French cooking in a busy, vibrant upbeat Bistro atmosphere. Offering a large and varied selection of traditionally cooked, locally sourced meat and fish dishes, we pride ourselves on giving our customers a first class, French-inspired dining experience.” Make sure you check out the set menu as it’s excellent value at £15.95 for two courses (£18.95 for three).
This Italian restaurant was recommended by a good friend of mine. “Little Italy is one of York’s finest family run Italian restaurants! Nestled between York Minster and Monk Bar “Little Italy” was established by owners Andrea & Mandy Gaias in January 1992, and as a result of endless dedication have built up an enviable reputation as one of York’s finest Italian restaurants offering gourmet cuisine to satisfy the most discerning tastes. Andrea has 30 years of catering experience and his passion for good food is reflected in his restaurant menu, he also hosts regular cookery demonstration evenings.” Have a look at my list of other Italian Restaurants in York.
“Skosh started simply, as a word that represented a concept. It has evolved into a contemporary dining room serving uncomplicated yet refined dishes in a comfortable and informal manner. At Skosh, we serve our food in the form of snacks and small plates, this allows you to have as little or as much as you want, grazing as you go, or if you prefer, gradually served course by course to give you a complete dining experience.”
I have been to Delrios many time and have always enjoyed it. Lovely intimate surroundings. “Enjoy candle-lit dining in this atmospheric cellar restaurant located adjacent to the historic Micklegate Bar and just a few minutes walk from York railway station. Delrio’s Restaurant offers home-cooked Italian food with a strong Sardinian influence in a lively environment.”
“Melton’s is a fine dining restaurant serving modern British food and it is Michael’s position as Chef Proprietor, which has made it one of York’s leading restaurants. Melton’s is featured in all the major food guides and has a rating of five in the Good Food Guide. Melton’s is renowned for serving high quality food in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.”
