The Forbidden Corner must be one of my favourite places ever! It’s a truly unique place to take the children and there is nowhere that I can think of that is similar. It’s a quirky mix of imagination, maze and magic! If fairies exist then their mischievous cousins the pixies definitely make their home here. (“I believe in fairies” – claps hands furiously). We visit every year if we can. I first wrote this post last year but am updating with a brand new video and lots more photos.

Tell me about the Forbidden Corner Yorkshire?
You enter the tricksy kingdom through a giant mouth. As you pass through, the tonsils waggle and burp at you (the children think this is hilariously naughty). This irreverent entrance sets the tone for the rest of the attraction.

Every nook and cranny is stuffed with eccentric detail, from small boy statues that will wee on an unwary traveller to gates that will only allow you to travel in one direction.

This boy is one of the highlights for my children and we always have to visit him!

There are tunnels underground that lead you to a secret room with multiple doorways. Make sure you retrace your footsteps choosing different doors each time so you don’t miss out.

Near the Mausoleum there is a giant with a double edged axe – we made the most of it to take a comedy photo!

Where is there to eat?
There is so much to see and so many garden paths to be lead down that you will need to stop and refuel. There is a large cafe that you’ll see when you enter. Prices are very reasonable. There is also a gift shop on the way out, and if you are lucky enough to find it, an ice cream kiosk in a walled garden. It’s a beautiful part of the world and a gorgeous backdrop to this magical place.
