We recently took a trip to Crete and stayed at the lovely Domes Aulūs Elounda.
Although we had transfers included with our package holiday, it would have being a 3-hour transfer time from Heraklion airport to our hotel on a coach, which we really didn’t fancy after a long flight, so we decided to use a HolidayExtras private car transfer which just took us 1 hour and was so easy and convenient!
Our driver was waiting for us immediately outside baggage reclaim with an electronic sign with my name on it. He was very friendly and immediately took our bags from us, chatting as he walked along. Another very positive point I felt was that he walked at our pace. I have had drivers race off before with my luggage and I’ve not been able to keep up with them. This wasn’t the case this time, he was very considerate!
We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the car, which was a Mercedes people carrier that would have seated six. It was very, very roomy for just the two of us and felt more like a limo!
He placed our bags in the boot and came and gave us a bottle of water each which was very welcome, before telling us exactly how long the journey would take.
An hour later we were at our hotel and he helped us out with our luggage before bidding us farewell.
We were kept informed of our booking, with updated timings via text message which was very reassuring. We could also login to the HolidayExtras portal and see everything there too. When it (sadly) came to the day we returned home our driver (a different one) turned up at the time he said he would in a nice big, clean and comfortable vehicle. Again, he was very friendly and helpful, giving us local information as we drove along.
Finally, he dropped us off at the door to the airport – we couldn’t have got any closer. It was a seamless experience and felt very safe and reassuring.
