Yuzu Asian Street Food at The Market Tap, Pocklington

Yuzu Asian Street Food at The Market Tap, Pocklington – I live just outside of Pocklington but had never tried The Market Tap before.  It recently changed hands and is now being run by the people behind Brew York.  This weekend saw Yuzu Street Food, Asian Pop up Kitchen serving Bao Buns, Katsu Curry and Gyozas (pan fried dumplings).  I love Asian food so was keen to try it out!

The Market Tap is situated over two floors.  The ground floor features the bar, various tables, sofas and a comfy looking window seat.  It’s light, modern and cosy.

Upstairs there are more tables and another comfortable sofa nook.   We found a nice table and then spent ages deciding what to order!

The food is very reasonably priced, and served street food style in cardboard containers.  It’s ideal sharing food, order several dishes put them in the middle of the table and then tuck in!  Between us we chose the Korean Pulled Pork Bao:

This was my favourite – a bit messy to eat (or is that just me?) but amazing flavours!  Both Bao Bun dishes were served with pickled cucumber, sweet pickled red onion, spring onion, sesame seeds and Sriracha mayo.  We also tried the Vegan Korean Fried Chicken Bao:

Vegetable Gyoza (Vegan) served with soy, spring onions and sesame:

And lastly Loaded Duck Fries – fries loaded up with crispy duck and drizzled with hoisin sauce and spring onions.

And finally Chicken Katsu Curry:

We loved the experience, really tasty food in a lovely comfortable environment.  We visited at lunchtime and there were people of all ages and families there.  I think at £8 for two Bao Buns or £6 for the Loaded Duck Fries – either of which would make a good lunch – is excellent value and makes a real change from the norm!  When they come back to The Market Tap, make sure you visit and try for yourself!

We were invited to visit and try the Yuzu menu at The Market Tap, but as always, all opinions are my own.
