Getting the best from tastecard in York

I have used tastecard on and off for many, many years, and it’s always been great value.  It’s an ideal resource if you are looking for York restaurant deals.

You can search for all the restaurants in your area that take a tastecard or you can search for more specific foods like whether you want Indian or Italian, which is great to narrow things down if there are a lot of restaurants that take it in your area.

York is a smaller city so we won’t have as many restaurants as say Birmingham or London, but there is still plenty to choose from. There are the big chains like Ed’s Easy Diner, Ask, Pizza Hut or Bella Italia, and there are some good York independents on there such as Plush Cafe on Stonegate or Yemen Heaven on Walmgate.

Now, the other thing you need to look for is what the discount is on the bill.  For example this could be a 25% discount or a 2 for 1 deal. Plush cafe offers 25% off the bill whereas Ask Italian will give you 2 for 1. Incidentally, if you’ve never been into Ask Italian in York it is definitely worth a visit. It’s in such a beautiful building, which were the old Grand Assembly Rooms.  It’s reminds me of the ballroom from Beauty and the Beast!

On the tastecard site you can also see little icons to say whether the deal is available on a Friday or Saturday and how many people can take part in the deal. Some deals are just for two people whereas some you can use for up to six for example.

As well as restaurants, Caffe Nero also offer a 25% discount off barista made drinks, which could mean a huge saving if you get a coffee there on your way to work.  You can also bag discounts on the cinema and days out.  What’s not to love?
