Ibis Budget Manchester Airport Review – Perfect for Terminal 2

Ibis Budget Manchester Airport hotels with reviews

There’s something rather lovely about waking up knowing that your airport is practically on the doorstep. No frantic early-morning drive, no worrying about traffic and, most importantly, no setting the alarm quite as ridiculously early!

We recently stayed at ibis budget Manchester Airport, which is just a couple of minutes’ walk from Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2. If you’ve got an early flight, the location really couldn’t be much more convenient.  It’s hidden slightly behind the Holiday Inn Manchester Airport – (see our review here).

The rooms are definitely budget rather than boutique, and they are compact.

But for an overnight airport stay, they have pretty much everything you need – a comfortable bed, TV, air conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities, Wi-Fi and an en-suite shower room.

There’s not loads of space for spreading out your suitcase, so this probably isn’t the place you’d choose for a romantic weekend away. But when you’re simply looking for somewhere clean and convenient to rest your head before catching a flight, it does the job.

And I have to say, the proximity to Terminal 2 is the real star of the show. Two minutes and you’re there!

Food and breakfast

There’s a casual food and drink offering at the hotel, including pizzas and snacks, while breakfast is available from the early hours – perfect if you’re catching one of those horribly early flights when most normal people are still tucked up in bed.

At the far end of the lobby there is a ‘Grab and Go’ which includes (payable) hot drinks and snacks.

I should also mention that as Terminal 2 is so close, you can stroll over and buy food in there.  There is an M&S food, Greggs and KFC!

Would we stay again?

For an airport hotel, I think the ibis budget gets the balance about right. It isn’t pretending to be luxurious, but it is modern, clean and, above all, incredibly convenient.

The rooms may be small, but you’re not really booking this hotel to spend your holiday in your room. You’re booking it because you want to roll out of bed, grab your luggage and be at the terminal in minutes.

If you’re flying from Terminal 2, I’d definitely consider it. Sometimes the simplest hotels are the ones that make travelling that little bit easier – and when you’re half asleep at 5am, being two minutes from the terminal is worth its weight in gold!
