Spooky Sledmere at Sledmere House over Halloween Half Term

Spooky Sledmere Review

We headed over to Sledmere House this weekend for their Spooky Sledmere event, and what a lovely afternoon it was! Sledmere always does such a brilliant job with their seasonal events.

As soon as we arrived, the grounds were looking wonderfully autumnal, the trees all turning golden.

The Spooky Trail wound its way through the gardens and we loved hunting for clues and spotting all the hidden pumpkins.

The trail was in two parts.  You had to search for signs with Halloween themed objects on them:

Then there were carved pumpkins to search for in the walled gardens:

We saw lots of these (great photo opportunities!):

They also currently have a bird of prey flying show where you can meet some reptiles with Owl Adventures.  It’s best to book your slot ahead of time for this.  We visited on the spur of the moment and didn’t manage to see the owls.

We also wandered through the farm park, and saw some lovely ducks!

My kids are teenagers now but we spent hours in the adventure playground when they were younger.

We didn’t have time to stop in the cafe (though we have, many times before) it’s the perfect way to warm up after a bracing walk around the grounds.

What I really love about events like Spooky Sledmere is how good it is for the kids. It’s fun for the older kids but not at all scary for the little ones.

If you’re looking for a relaxed, autumnal family day out in East Yorkshire, Spooky Sledmere is a great place to try.

Do head over to the Yorkshire’s Great Houses, Castles and Gardens site for more fab ideas of places to visit.
