AD| Review of the Playful Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge Hotel

Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge Review.  We like to have a weekend away at this time of year, it’s my birthday and I love Christmas so it’s a perfect way to combine the two.  For our Christmas/Birthday weekend away destination, this year we chose Edinburgh.  While Mr W and I have been to Edinburgh a couple of times in the past, we have never taken the children and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to visit their Christmas market too.

We stayed at the Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge.  It’s in a great location and a short walk or taxi to the majority of Edinburgh attractions.  The staff were friendly and very welcoming and we were quickly checked in and given all the info we needed about our room and breakfast.  The foyer is also part of the bar and lounge with a variety of cool and comfortable seating areas.  Perfect for a morning coffee or late night drink.

Don’t miss the fact that Moxy has a rooftop bar, and it’s lovely!  There’s a row of booths outside, beautifully lit with festoon lighting.  We spent an hour outside, even though it was December, with the help of the cosy blankets they also provide.  If you feel the cold too much, never fear as it is just as pretty inside and the views are still great!

The downstairs bar and lounge serves a help-yourself breakfast.  It includes bacon, sausages and eggs as hot dishes.  There is also fresh fruit and cereal, cheeses and cold meats, and toast.  I have to say that the pastry selection was very impressive, with cinnamon rolls, pain au chocolat, raisin twists and croissants.  There were even waffles!  They also serve food later in the day such as pizza, hot dogs and chicken wings – nice, easy comfort food!

Every floor has an ironing room, and the hotel has a gym – neither of which I wished to visit, but I am sure many do!

Moxy Edinburgh review

We stayed on the 6th floor (excellent views!) in a family room that doubles as a suite I imagine.

The room is divided into two separate rooms with an opening between the two (rather than a door).  What would be the lounge area in a suite becomes the kids’ bedroom with the aid of a sofa bed.  In the main bedroom there is a large double bed.  In both rooms there is  a big, flatscreen smart TV.  Perfect for casting awful YouTube videos or Netflix for me.

The room has everything you need from tea and coffee making facilities to a section for your clothes and shelving.  There’s a hairdryer too.  Our room was clearly accessible too with a huge bathroom and walk in shower.

We enjoyed our stay at the Moxy in Edinburgh, it’s well situated, has everything you need, plenty of comfy seating, a cracking rooftop bar and friendly staff.  Well priced too!

We were invited to stay at the Moxy and review.  As always, all our opinions are our own.
