I didn’t expect to fall in love with a pair of curtains, but that’s exactly what happened the day I hung the Catherine Lansfield Mya Tropical Birds from Terrys in my living room.
Our living room is lovely but a bit plain – I wanted more colour. Something to give the room personality. That’s when I stumbled across these curtains online.
At first, I hesitated. Navy? Tropical birds? Would it be too loud? Too much? But something about them kept pulling me back. The deep navy felt dramatic but calming, and the bursts of colour—lush green leaves, dragonflies, birds in shades of coral, teal, and gold—looked like artwork you could live with.
The fabric is soft and velvety. Hanging them up was easy, thanks to the eyelets, and they open and close easily too.
I love the way they look, but being so heavy, they also hang really well. The lining gives just the right amount of light control, and they really just brighten the room up. They even work through the seasons. In summer, they will feel bright but in winter, cosy!
We live at the top of the Yorkshire Wolds and it’s really (really!) windy up here. My sofa is next to the living room window and I feel the draught, but these curtains make a difference and will hopefully cut down our huge heating bill too!
So yes, I love these curtains. Not just for how they look, but for how they made my living room feel like mine again.
