I have a bit of a thing for wheelbarrows it seems. I can’t seem to let them go, so I have various in numerous stages of life/decay/usefulness. Now, I’d never tried a 2 wheeled barrow before, so was intrigued to try this 78 litre wheelbarrow from VonHaus.

Only a small amount of assembly was required. A total of eight nuts and bolts and two split pins were needed to attach the handle, frame and wheels to the tub itself.

The tub is a sturdy one piece plastic item – more than solid enough for lugging logs, compost, etc up and down the garden. I prefer down, where gravity is your friend. It feels nicely balanced when loaded up, so less strain on the back than a more traditional barrow.

The handle has a squishy grip too. I think I may be nice to this barrow and not pile concrete in it 🙂

As it’s spring, I also treated us to a new strimmer – the Cordless 2-in-1 Grass Trimmer & Brush Cutter. I’ve previously established any strimmer below 20v doesn’t work for us as it doesn’t have enough power for our garden. The VonHaus is 36v, courtesy of the included twin 18v batteries and dual charger, which charges both at once.

Again, it needed some minor assembly, handles and blade guard attaching – four bolts and two screws. Just 10 minute job really. Attached a carrying strap and off we went.

With the strap adjustable for correct height, it hung comfortably. The two handle grip felt good, easy to control and not tiring to use. Strimming the overgrown edge of the lawn was no trouble.

The line feed is automatically dispensed and cut when needed. Just bump it on the ground whilst spinning and it sends out more line. Also included is a brush cutting blade. The garden is well behaved at the moment so haven’t needed this yet.

All in all, two great new pieces of kit!
