AD| Mother’s Day Gifts for Foody Mums from Very

Mothers’ Day is on Sunday the 19th of March this year, so there is plenty of time to plan how you are going to spoil your mum.  We are going out for Sunday Lunch in York and I am hoping that lots of cups of tea will be made for me also!

I was really pleased when Very got in touch with me to ask me to talk about their Mothers’ Day offerings – they have lots of lovely things!  If you are a foody mum like me, you will be interested in their range of hampers (who doesn’t love a hamper!).  I chose this Love Chocolate hamper.   It comes boxed, but inside is this ‘sack’ of chocolate.  It’s a strong bag actually and you will be able to reuse it (would make a perfect bottle bag too).  I don’t like to throw pretty things away if they will come in handy.

I know you want to see what is in the bag, so here it is:

There is lots here for the chocolate lover!  I was pleased to see Fudge Biscuit Shards from Guppy’s in York (even more pleased to eat them!).

As well as a chocolate hamper, I also tried out a cheese hamper, (detecting a theme here?)  Like the chocolate hamper, this can be delivered direct to your mum and comes nicely packaged like below.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love cheese!  This hamper comes with three cheese truckles (sorry for another aside, but isn’t truckle a lovely word?  Truckle.  Just feels nice to say!).

Anyway, as well as the truckles of cheese, there are some Yorkshire Crisps, Sweet Apple Chutney and some Beetroot, Potato and Spinach crackers.  I’ll be honest, I’m not sure about the crackers, but everything else sounds wonderful!

Very also sell Virgin Experience Days.  You can either choose an experience yourself for your mum or you can buy a monetary voucher to spend with Virgin Experience Days.  When you have bought the experience or gift card, it is sent to you in an attractive wallet.  It’s nice to be able to give a physical item I think.

They have so many experiences to choose from, such as spa days, theatre trips and days out.  One of my favourite categories for myself is the afternoon tea category.  There are sooo many delicious possibilities!  You can search for what is available in the area you live or where you are planning to visit.  The place you will find the most experiences (isn’t it always the way!) is London.  Now, you might have seen from previous posts that I love to visit London anyway, so this isn’t a problem for me!

There are some amazing places to experience afternoon tea in London, what about Champagne Afternoon Tea on the Thames or a Bottomless Prosecco Afternoon Tea at The Cavendish?  You can even combine a sightseeing tour with a vintage afternoon tea on a red double decker bus.  I haven’t tried the bus, but last month I did try the afternoon tea by the company who makes the afternoon teas for the bus!  (Brigit’s Bakery in Covent Garden).  Fabulous!

Another amazing experience to gift your mum is afternoon tea and then a visit to The View from The Shard.  I did this one last year and was very lucky to experience a golden sunset while we were there.  I have to admit, I am afraid of heights, but this was an incredible visit that I think everyone should experience!

My thanks to Very for sending me these fab gifts to review.
