5 Reasons London Makes for a Great Long Weekend.

If you’re planning a long weekend away or are traveling to complete an English course in London, then here are five reasons that London is the ideal choice.

Regardless of your interests, (or ages of your kids if you choose to bring them along), there’s something for everyone.

If you’re planning a long weekend away, then here are five reasons that London is the ideal choice.

  • The Shopping

From the markets of Camden, to the high end retail of Harrods, London is the best place to go if you want a fruitful shopping experience.

If you’re heading to the capital just for the shops, then plan out your excursion before you go. This way you’ll squeeze in as many as you can while you’re there.

  • The History

London is steeped in history, and much of it can be experienced through historical tours and exhibitions.

If the weather is mild (and dry) why not opt for a walking tour or an open top bus around the city, and benefit from the knowledge of the tour guides.

Alternatively, sites such as the Tower of London are a great choice for a day out that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike – and of course, a better choice if it’s raining!

  • The Art

If you’re looking to introduce some culture to your trip, then London is perfect for the art lovers in your life.

From the wide range of galleries like the Tate Modern and National Gallery, to the beautiful art installations such as Thomas Heatherwick and Ormiston Wire’s collaborative piece ‘Bleigiessen’ at the Wellcome Trust, you’ll have the chance to enjoy the work of skilled artists.

  • The Theatres

If you’re looking to catch a musical, then London is one of the best places to be in the country.

From The Lion King to Les Misérables, Wicked to Hamilton, some of the greatest musicals of all time have found their home on London’s many stages.

With such a wide range to choose from, you’ll be sure to find something that your whole family will enjoy. And, if you go to the box office in the morning, you can even sometimes get discounted tickets to the biggest shows.

  • The Attractions

London is so full of attractions that it will be impossible to fit in everything you want to do in one weekend.

However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start ticking things off of your wish list.

If you have time, pay a visit to Madame Tussauds, or ride the London Eye… and don’t forget, you can always come back again to visit more!

Navigating London by car isn’t a particularly relaxing experience. Luckily the transportation infrastructure around the city is fantastic. Leave the car at home and make use of the London underground. The majority of the city’s tourist attractions are close to a tube station, so you’ll have no trouble getting about.
