Turtle Bay York – Last weekend we popped into York to see the Christmas Market and to visit Santa himself at the York Chocolate Story. While we were there we had a lovely lunch with the kids at Turtle Bay. Now, I have been a few times before as I love Caribbean food, but had never taken the kids. I heard that they had changed the kids menu recently so thought it was a good chance to try it out.
Turtle Bay York Review
We arrived on the dot of 12 on a Sunday lunchtime and the restaurant was fairly quiet, although it filled up as we ate. I prefer it not too frantic when I am eating with the children, but there was a nice chilled out vibe. Our server was very jolly and welcomed the kids, giving them the kids menu and some crayons. The kids menu also had snakes and ladders on it so we made a makeshift dice and that kept the kids happy.
To begin with we shared Just Jerk Platter. It included marinated jerk wings, glazed pork ribs, beef patty, jerk chicken flatbread, sweet corn fritters, super green salad. This was mainly for Mr W and I but the kids enjoyed trying things too. Miss H liked the sweetcorn fritters while Master T went for the beef patties. The jerk chicken wings were my favourite.
For his main, Master T ordered the Chicken and Cheese Toastie from the ‘Bigger Turtles’ Kids Menu.
While Miss H went for the Flaked Salmon Flatbread Pizza from the Tiny Turtles Menu. I think she was expecting a more traditional style pizza, but she enjoyed the salmon.
Mr W ordered the half Jerk Chicken and fries.
And I chose the Jerk Pork Belly. I loved the pineapple salad and wasn’t planning to bother with the rice, but it was delicious!
We had a pressing engagement with Santa so didn’t have time for desserts, but I was quite full anyway! Turtle Bay is a nice relaxed place to take kids with a menu that’s refreshingly different from the standard chicken nuggets and chips. It certainly got a thumbs up from our kids!
Turtle Bay invited us to try the kids menu. As always, all opinions expressed are my own.
