Tree Lodge Glamping at Swinton Bivouac, North Yorkshire – We arrived at Swinton Bivouac in the midst of a quite impressive storm! Once we got into our Tree Lodge though we were snug and warm. There is something delightfully cosy about drinking hot chocolate under the cover of your wooden porch, watching the rain over the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. As the dark set in and the kids fell asleep, Mr Wonders and I sat and chatted by candlelight with the soft sound of rain as a relaxing background noise.
The Tree Lodges are wonderfully private, each facing out towards the hills and fields so the views are stunning. (Though rather shrouded in mist on my below photo!)
They sleep seven people in total in a double (bottom bunk), three singles (middle bunk) and king size (top bunk).
The tree lodges also come with a mini kitchen, comprising of a sink, shelves and a two ring gas hob. You will have all you need with plates, cups, glasses, pans, utensils and cutlery.
There is also a wood burning stove to keep you cosy. We didn’t need it, despite the storm it wasn’t too cold, and we happily sat out on the porch until very late. It gave the kids chance to calm down after the excitement of the day and finally fall asleep.
Glamping at Swinton Bivouac
The lodge also has a sofa and table where we played Scrabble by candlelight, and ate sausage sandwiches! The glamp site has a communal barbecue area and a cafe but the sausages were perfect and meant that we could enjoy the evening in the lodge without leaving it.
The lodge has its own bathroom with toilet, shower and sink and plenty of hot water.
The beds come equipped with bed linen, a duvet and pillows and a hot water bottle each if you need it. There are also lots of lanterns everywhere, with fresh candles and plenty of matches. The porch is large, and covered as I have mentioned and comes with a wooden bench and two deck chairs.
There isn’t a hot tub in the lodge itself but there is one near the cafe that the lodge guests are welcome to use.
Druid’s Temple
There is a wonderful stone folly just a few minutes away from the Tree Lodges called the Druid’s Temple. It was quite late when we visited and a bit wet but looked fab and I’d love to return on a brighter day!
The Cafe at Swinton Bivouac
There is a cafe on site that serves lovely breakfasts in a really pretty setting. There are some tables outside too with a fabulous view that must be blissful on a sunny day. The interior of the cafe is decorated with quirky details and fairy lights.

and both kids went for cheese paninis!
Oh and Master T went for this magnificent looking milkshake because someone else on an adjacent table had one!
The Tree Lodges at Swinton Bivouac are fabulously quirky with lots of thoughtful and pretty details that make it a delightful place to stay. The views and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales make for a beautiful and relaxing trip. There are lots of lovely family days out in the area too, and plenty of places to visit nearby.
