Kumarakom
With an area of 139 sq. km, Kumarakom is one of the most gorgeous backwater sites in Kerala. This tiny village is located 45 minutes from Kottayam on the Vembanad Lake.
The name Kumarakom means home to the Lord Krishna’s race – the cowherds. From July to September, the monsoon season is one of the best times to visit Kumarakom with its creeks and stream flows, and numerous rice fields get flooded with water.
It is located nearly 68 km from Changanassery Airport, was formerly known as Kumarakkodu, and houses lagoons, backwaters, and paddy fields amidst palm groves.
