We’re so lucky to be spoilt for choice when it comes to family days out in Guildford. Guildford is a wonderful place – the perfect mix of bustling busy streets and quiet, chilled countryside. This lends itself well to a whole range of diverse activities that the whole family will enjoy. I’ve rounded up ten of my favourite family things to do in Guildford in the list below – I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

 

  1. Guildford Treasure Trail

Guildford Treasure Trail is a wonderful way to get the whole family outside in the gorgeous Surrey countryside. The self-guided treasure hunt is simple enough for the little ones, and challenging enough for the adults too. There are clues to solve along the way as you discover various monuments and points of interest around Guildford. The map can be bought online and downloaded at home for extra ease.

 

  1. The Colour Cauldron Pottery Studio, Cranleigh

 

For a creative family day out, look no further than The Colour Cauldron Pottery Studio in nearby Cranleigh. The small, friendly pottery shed is a haven for artsy kids and parents alike. There are many different items to choose from, so everyone has a chance to make a unique project. All materials are provided, and there’s no mess to clear up – it’s a winner!

 

  1. Frimley Lodge and Miniature Railway

 

Who doesn’t love a miniature railway? Nearby Frimley Lodge and Minature Railway offers rides on its charming, one kilometre train line and much more besides. The play area, community garden and café will keep the whole family occupied all day long.

 

  1. Surrey Hills Llamas

 

Have your kids seen a llama yet? If not, take them for a trip to Surrey Hills Llamas where they’ll have the chance to take one of these special animals for a walk. There are a variety of treks on offer, all with different prices. The English Picnic Trek is by far my favourite – your llama will even carry your picnic basket for you!

 

  1. Guildford Spectrum

 

No list of family days out in Guildford would be complete without Guildford Spectrum, a leisure centre like no other. The centre offers a never-ending list of activities, including ice-skating, bowling, tennis, swimming and much more. Head over to the website and book a sporty activity for your kids today.

 

  1. The Lightbox, Woking

 

Just a ten-minute drive away from Guildford in Woking, you’ll find The Lightbox – a cultural space with three galleries, a museum and café. There are also creative workshops for all ages to take part in, many of which are free of charge and run on a drop-in basis. There’s so much to see and do at The Lightbox, and the whole family will leave feeling inspired at the end of the day.

 

  1. Birdworld, Farnham

 

If you’re looking for a unique, hands-on experience with the kids, Birdworld in nearby Farnham’s the place to go. Birdworld is home to an impressive 2,000 creatures, including parrots, bugs and even penguins! After your walk around the centre, The Discovery Theatre offers a place to rest your legs whilst continuing to be delighted by a variety of fascinating performances.

 

  1. AirHop Trampoline Park

 

Adrenaline seekers rejoice – AirHop Trampoline Park on the outskirts of Guildford is enough to get everyone’s heart racing. Their 50 interconnected trampolines offer a safe space to play and jump to your heart’s content. When you’re all out of bounce, the on-site AirHop café will give you the extra boost you need.

 

  1. Bockett’s Farm, Leatherhead

 

A family day out in Surrey wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the countryside. Bockett’s Farm in Leatherhead is a working family farm set in stunning Surrey surroundings. Here, your children will be able to say hello to goats, rabbits, piglets and all their other favourite farm animals. If your kids aren’t animal people yet, they sure will be after a trip here.

 

  1. Secretts’ Pick Your Own, Milford

 

Last, but by no means least is Secretts’ Pick Your Own in nearby Milford. ‘Picking your own’ is a wonderful way to educate your kids on where food comes from, encourage healthy eating, and get them outdoors. You could even get them involved in the cooking when you get home to keep your family day out going well into the evening – if you’re feeling brave enough, that is! The produce on offer changes seasonally, so be sure to check the website before you go.
