Amazing Asian Fusion at The Wok Inn Blackpool, Review – on our recent trip to Blackpool we tried something a bit different, The Wok Inn, Seaside Noodle Bar. It’s a family run Asian fusion restaurant and a new venture by the team who run Michael Wan’s Mandarin a Chinese restaurant that has been open in the centre of Blackpool since 1955! It was just two stops down from where we were staying at The Imperial Hotel and very close to the Blackpool Tower.
The Guardian described it as ‘utterly beguiling’ and I can see why. The interior is light, modern and quirky. Cited on The Wok Inn’s website as ‘Budapest ‘ruin bar’ meets Penang hawker market’, the decor is both colourful and characterful which helps create a relaxed and yet lively vibe.
Once seated we were brought Thai prawn crackers with a sweet chili dipping sauce.
We took our children aged 9 and 11, as they are fairly adventurous with meals and love both Chinese and Indian food. There are lots of small plates to choose from for sharing as well as main plates. The children wanted dishes to themselves so we chose a dish each. Miss H who is pescetarian went for the Soup Ramen with Tofu and Vegetables. You could choose what sort of noodles went into the dish, and she went for Vermicelli Rice.
Master T followed suit and also went for the Soup Ramen but with boneless chicken thighs, but he chose Udon noodles.
Mr Wonders is a big Pad Thai fan and loved his dish:
Finally I chose the Massaman Chicken Curry. I have to admit to being completely swayed by a picture I saw on The Wok Inn’s Instagram page of the Massaman Curry served in these delightful tiffin tins!
Once unpacked the dish looked like this:
My meal was made up in four tins, one with curry, one with salad (very spicy!), one with rice, and one with a roti. There were lots of vegan and gluten free dishes on the menu, so plenty of choice for everyone. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and urge you to try it. We passed the restaurant again the following day and my son said ‘Can we go there again? It was amazing!’ and you don’t get a much more heartfelt recommendation than that!
