The Original Tour in London Review

Over the weekend we had a lovely Christmas weekend in London, and part of that was going on The Original Tour. Now, I am a huge fan of going on open top tourist buses when we visit a new place. You get to see so much more than you would walking around and you can hop on and hop off as frequently as you like to explore in more detail.  You will see why London should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Hop on Hop off London Bus Tour

If you just have one day in London, then this is perfect for you.  We had the 48 hour ticket which was ideal for us. There is a stop right outside King’s Cross Station that then shuttles you into the heart of London where you can change onto one of the other lines.  You find out so many interesting facts about London all in one place.  I’ve done a short video review here:

There are six sightseeing routes with over 100 stops taking you through the most famous streets in London.  You can also do three walking tours that are included in the price.  These are the Changing of the Guard, Jack the Ripper and Rock ‘n’ Roll walking tours.

On the shuttle bus and some of the other routes there is commentary via headphones in 11 languages (they will give you headphones – you don’t need your own). While on the main routes you will usually find an English speaking guide. The guide we had was so helpful and really entertaining.  As you can see from our video we had a tour during the day and then again later when it was dark so we could see the Christmas lights!  This is Oxford Street taken from Hyde Park corner.

Make sure you are wrapped up warm as it can get chilly up there, but there is a covered area at the front of the top deck and you can always sit downstairs too.  We visited Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park on the same day, and this was the view as we set off:

Oh, and download The Original Tour app too as that will give you lots of information about where you are, where your nearest stop is and when the next bus will be there. We never waited longer than a few minutes wherever we stopped though.

The Original Tour invited us to join the tour to review, but as always all views expressed are my own.
