New Year’s Eve York 2018 – What’s On?

New Year’s Eve York 2018.  Looking for what to do at New Year in York?  I’ve found the information surprisingly sparse on the internet so have put a list together of the events I have found in York.  I’ve found black tie dinners, pantomimes and nightclub discos.

While you are here, also have a look at my what to do over Christmas in York as well as my Christmas Events in Yorkshire post – lots of York events listed.

Please do contact me if you know of an event or fireworks in York New Year’s Eve 2018 and I will add it to the list!

Listen to The York Minster bells chiming in the New Year at Midnight

It is a York tradition to gather around The Minster at midnight to listen to the bells chime in the New Year.  It’s lovely to be with so many people all celebrating the same thing in front of our magnificent Minster.  Prepare for it being busy and there being lots of merry people!  If you are lucky there might be a fireworks display.

  • Hi, your page about new year is very interesting thanks. Can you tell me if the bars / restaurants stay open late (until midnight)? We stayed in Glasgow last new year and everything closed at 9.30ish except for ticketed venues. Thanks, Susan

  • “If you are lucky there might be a fireworks display.” – Is it possible to get a confirmation if the fireworks will be taking place this year?

    • I don’t know I am afraid. I have looked but I can’t find any confirmation. It’s possible as it’s happened in the past, but not definite I am afraid (sorry!). Nikki
