A Carita Facial at Middlethorpe Hall Spa in York – Review

A Carita Facial at Middlethorpe Hall Spa in York – I recently visited Middlethorpe Hall for a Champagne Afternoon Tea and a Spa Day.  You approach the spa at Middlethorpe Hall via a cute little cottage. Once you go through the front door though, the house turns tardis-like, extending back and back to include the spa. It has to be the quirkiest spa entrance I have ever seen!

The spa isn’t huge but includes everything you need from a good sized swimming pool, to a sauna, steam and jacuzzi. There are relaxing chairs by the pool rather than a dedicated relaxation room, and there are comfortable sofas in the spa reception that overlook the pool itself.

The changing rooms are quite snug and could perhaps benefit from a little updating, but include a changing cubicle, lockers, showers and a dressing table with hairdryers.

Middlethorpe Hall Spa Day Review

Middlethorpe Hall Spa has recently begun using Carita products and I got to sample a Sculpting Gold Perfection Facial. It’s a very modern facial and is considered a non surgical face-lift.  The offical info tells you about it more effectively than I can:   The Carita spa treatment approach and method are based on a split of 70% use of expert hands and 30% use of advanced energies. These hand gestures have been designed by Carita’s beauty professional team. The CINETIC™ LIFTEXPERT (CLE) device offers a combination of micro-currents to help products penetrate deeper into the skin, Ultrasound and LEDs to increase cell renewal and deliver dramatic visible results after just one treatment. Perfect for a moment of rejuvenation or in preparation for a special occasion when you want to look your best.

My therapist, Laura was lovely and really put me at ease. We chatted about my skin type and my regular beauty routine (non existent) and then she prepared the products for me. I felt looked after and really enjoyed the skin exfoliation and massage. Some of the electrical treatments were a little uncomfortable and there was a very firm facial massage too that I was glad was over quickly!  Having said that, I felt that the discomfort meant that it was effective.  If it had been a gentle massage, I don’t think it would have achieved any long lasting effects! But on the whole, I enjoyed it. I had a few comments afterwards saying that my skin looked ‘glowing’ and ‘fresher’ so I think it did its job!

Middlethorpe Hall and Spa are running a competition to win a half spa day including the Sculpting Gold Perfection Facial that I enjoyed.  Simply answer this question: How many CARITACINETIC treatments are necessary to deliver visible results?  Email your answer, and full name, town and postcode to competition@middlethorpe.com, and mention whether you would like to receive information about the spa or not.
