Lonely Planet Kids Books – Make Perfect Presents

This week we were sent a couple of Lonely Planet Kids books, and my goodness are they beautiful! I love books anyway, but these are marvellous and my children love them.  We were sent The Big Earth Book:

And The Incredible Cabinet of Wonders:

The Big Earth Book is Master T’s favourite, as it is crammed with so many bite sized and interesting travel facts. He is 10 and a fan of the Guinness Book of Records and Ripley’s Believe it or Not, as well as the more gruesome Horrible Histories. This book is right up his street.  I am hoping to take them to see the Northern Lights soon, so was interested to see this chapter:

It’s educational but interesting at the same time, and presented so beautifully, they can’t fail to be fascinated.

Miss H loves The Incredible Cabinet of Wonders and I can completely see why, each set of double pages is not only beautifully illustrated, it’s got at least four doors to open on each page.

It had been very hard for me to not open the doors myself for a peek, but I have (on the whole) restrained myself so that the kids get the pleasure of opening the secret door for the first time!

The books come in at £14.99 for the The Big Earth Book and £15.99 for  The Incredible Cabinet of Wonders.

Lonely Planet Kids also offer lots of free activities to help take this further – from activities families can do at home to the LP Kids blog, containing contributions from younger travellers and interviews with interesting people and travellers from around the world. You can keep up to date on Twitter @lpkids, and they’re on children’s social media network PopJam too.

Anyone signing up to the Lonely Planet Kids newsletter gets 30% off their first Lonely Planet Kids purchase – in addition to a dose of inspiring family travel articles, fun activity sheets and news.

We were sent both books to review, but as always any opinions expressed are my own.
