London Duck Tours – A Quirky and Family Friendly Tour of London

While wandering around the streets of London, every now and then we would be passed by an odd looking yellow open sided bus.  You may already know, this is a Duck from the London Duck Tours.

London Duck Tours

If you love what is quirky in life (like me!) then you will love the Londom Duck Tours.  They are not huge, so you get a very personal tour of London with a funny and knowledgeable tour guide.  As mentioned the sides are open so you have an unencumbered view of some of the most iconic sights of London.  There are window covers in place though (clear plastic) if the weather turns rainy.

Fab and Quirky Tour of London

As you drive around, you will see people stop to stare at you, and you become part of an iconic sight too!  Miss H loved waving at people and generally enjoyed the attention!

We took the City of London Tour, which is around 75 minutes long and takes you over the Thames at Waterloo Bridge, near St Paul’s Cathedral, and over London Bridge to Southwark.  Then on to MI6 where the bus really does live up to its name and drives straight into the Thames and becomes a boat!  You then take a cruise aboard your duck up to the Houses of Parliament and back.

Family Friendly Tour

We loved the whole experience!  The guide was funny and really know what he was talking about.  He involved the group in what he was saying and it really felt an inclusive and personal tour.  The kids loved the fact that the bus became a boat, and remember our duck with great fondness!

My last advice would be to remember to print the directions that they send.  The Duck Tours office is around the corner from where you board your duck.  Don’t be late like us and go to the wrong place, then arrive sweaty and late and have to apologise to all the other tour guests…!

Another great way to tour London is by bus.  Have a look at The Willow Tree’s review of The Original Bus Company.
